Past Perfect Continuous Tense


Explanatory (Definition)

                       Past Perfect continuous tense expresses a continuous action that was completed at some point in the past.

 

Syntax (Structure):

Subject+ had +been+ verb 1st form +ing+ since+ for+ Object.

 

Implementing (Examples)

Positive Sentences

(1) They had been insulting the poor people since Morning.

(2) You had been writting a letter your brother for several years.

(3) I had been searching new clothes in Market since Evening.

(4) She had been wearing her clothes since now.

(5) He had been waiting for his friend for two days.

(6) We had been plucking flower since Morning.

(7) Zeeshan had been dancing in the party for many years.

 

Syntax (Structure) Negative

Formula:

             Subject+ had +not+ been+ verb 1st form +ing+ since +for+ Object.


Examples

(1) She had not been going to aboard country for higher education since yesterday.

(2) We had not been weeping since today.

(3) They had not bringing the water from spring for two hours.

(4) You had not been taking exercise in the morning time since 3 0 – clock.

(5) He had not been polishing his shoes since 1950.

(6) I had not been showing trouble to my mother since 2009.

(7) I had not been seeing my father since 2004 after.

(8) You had not been celebrating the happiness of Eid with each other for two years.

 

Syntax (Structure) Interrogative

Formula

              Had + subject+ been + verb 1st form + object?


Examples

(1) Had he been cutting the words in Forest since morning?

(2) Had she been waiting for her child since 5 0- clock?

(3) Had we been taking 3-5 GPA in Numl University since 2009?

(4) Had I been respecting the old people since 2010?

(5) Had you been passing the M.A Exam for 3 hours?

(6) Had they been walking with me on the road since mid-Night?

(7) Had Aslam been listening the English news on Radio since today?

Formula

              Had + Subjects + not + been + verb 1st form + ing + since /for + objective?
