English Grammar|Tenses|Present Indefinite Tense


Tense is the origin Latin word “ Tempuse which means time.

Tense used as Adjective = unhappy

Tense used as verb     = making someone happy

Tense used as noun   = time

Tense are three family.


1. Present

2. Past 

3. Future


Each family have four kinds.


There are three stages.

1. Explanatory (Definition)

2. Syntax        (Structure)

3. Implementing (Examples)

 

1. Present Indefinite Tense


1. Explanatory Stage (Definition)

                          Simple present tense express an action or state that happen habitually regularly or daily.               

                                                            OR

                                       Simple present tense express schedulized the action when add the time is giving meaning in future.  

                                                              OR

                                       The headlines express present tense show the meaning in past tense.


2. Syntax :( Structure)

Singular Structure:

                              Subject + verb 1stform or Base form or present form +es/s + Object.

He, She, It, Singular Noun

Then add the es/s with verbs

(o,x ,ss , ch , sh ,zz , s , es)  Suffixes


Plural Structure:

 They, you, we, I, Plural Noun

  Then no add the es/s with verbs

(o, x , ss, ch , sh ,zz , s , es) Suffixes

In English Grammar there are three persons.

First person:      I , We

Second person:  You

Third person:     They , He , She , it

 

Implementing (Examples):

Positive sentence

2. He plays Cricket.

3. Aslam embraces Islam.

4. Shazia cooks the meal.

5. It rains.

6. They catch the ball.

7. You wash the clothes.

8. We bring the wood from hill.

9. I mix the water in milk.

10. Kamran and Mehran quarrel with each other.

 

2. Syntax (Structure) 

Negative Sentences

Formula:

                Subject + does not/do not+ verb 1stform + object.


Note: 

   Does not use for:    

  He, She, It , Singular Noun


Note:

  Do not use for:

They, We I, You, Plural Noun


Examples

 1. She does not bring the wood from hill.

2. He does not write a letter.

3. Shazia does not squeeze her clothes.

4. Aslam and Mehran don not quarrel with each other.

5. They do not listen the music.

6. You do not search the difficult words in Dictionary.

7. We do not think about our Future.

8. I do not laugh behind the people.

9. Samreen and Somira do not watch T.V.

10. You do not tell a lie.

 

Syntax (Structure)

 Interrogative Sentences

Formula:

Does/Do+ Subject + verb1stform + Object?


Note:

Does use for:

She, It, He Singular Noun


Note:

Do use for:

They, We, I, You Plural Noun


Examples:

1. Do I play Cricket?

2. Do you read the Newspaper?

3. Do we listen music?

4. Do they press their clothes?

5. Does she close the door?

6. Does he pluck the flower?

7. Does it rain?

8. Does Aslam draw picture?

9. Does he clean the room?

10. Does Ahmad watch T.V?

 

Syntax (Structure) 

Compound Sentences

Formula:

             Does/Do+ Subject+ not+ verb 1stform + Object?

Note:

Does + Subject + Not:

He, She , It , Singular Noun

 

Note:

Do + Subject + Not:

They, We, I, You, Plural Noun


Examples:

1. Does she not write a letter?

2. Does he not learn lesson?

3. Does Aslam not clean the room?

4. Do they not make ablution?

5. Do you not listen Mashal Radio?

6. Do I not watch TV?

7. Does it not rains today?

                                 

  WXSV:

W: What, When, How, Which, Who etc.

X: Auxiliary,(is ,are, am, was, were, have, has ,had, will, shall)

S: Subject,( Aslam,he,she,it,they,we,you,I, P.N )

V: verb (play, watch, act, wash)
