Present Continuous Tense

Explanatory (Definition)

                                          Present Progressive Tense expresses an action which is in progress at the time of speaking.

                                OR

Present Progressive Tense expresses the meaning of Future Tense if time is added.

Syntax (Structure):

Formula:

Subject + H/V (is, are ,am) + 1st form + verb + ing + object.


Note:

He , She ,it , Singular Noun: is

They, we, you, Plural Noun: are

 I:am


Implementing (Examples):

Positive Sentences

1.Saleem is reading the Newspaper.

2. He is going to London for higher Education.

3. She is teaching English to us.

4. They are Shivering from cool in winter.

5. You are speaking an English.

6. I am watching to the plants.

7. Mehran and Kamran are buying the new shoes for Eid.

8. We are taking tea.

 

Syntax (Structure)

Negative Sentences

Formula:

Subject + H/V (is , are , am ) + not + 1st form of verb + ing + object.


Note:

He, she, it, Singular Noun: is not

Note:

They, we, you, plural Noun : are not

 I   : am not


Examples:

1. Saleem is not reading the Newspaper.

2. We are not arresting the thief.

3. You are not eating the mango.

4. I am not dividing the sweets on people.

5. She is not dressing her clothes.

6. He is not printing the student paper.

7. Samreen is not playing cricket.

8. They are not reciting the Holy Quran.

9. You are not talking with your brother on Skype.

10. Ibrahim and Bilal are not waiting at airport for their brother arrival.

W: What, Who , How , When etc.

X: Auxiliary (is , are , am , was were , has , have etc)

S: Subject (Aslam , he , she ,it , they , we , I , you )

V: Verb (watching, washing, looking, abjuring)


Examples:

1. What are you reading?

2. Why is he forgetting me?

3. Who are they searching?

 

Syntax (Structure)

Interrogative Sentences

Formula:

H/V (is are am )+ Subject + verb + 1st form verb + ing + Object?

Note:

Is + Subj+ verb 1st form + ing + Object?

He, She, It Singular Noun

Note:

Are + Subj + verb + ing + Object?

They , we ,  you, Plural Noun


Note:

Am + Subj + verb + ing + Object?     I

Examples :

1.Is he learing his lesson?

2.Are they dancing in the party?

3. Are you taking breakfast?

4. Are we driving the car?

5.Am I watching the Match Pakistan vs India on Tv?

6. Is Bilal thinking about his Future?

 

 Syntax (structure) 

Compound Sentences:

Formula:

IS + Subject + not + verb 1stform + Object?


Note:

He , She , It , Singular Noun:

Is + Subject + not + verb1stform + ing + Object?


Note:

They , We , You , Plural Noun:

 Are + Subjcet + not + verb1stform + ing + Object?


Note:

Am + Subject +not + verb1stform + ing + Object?


Examples:

1. Is she not learning her lesson?

2. Is he not taking the Matric Exam?

3. Is Ayesha not treating of the  patient?

4. Are they not transferring the money to Mobile?

5. Are you not taking exercise?

6.Are we not bringing water from spring?

7. Am I not affriming of the people?

8. Is Saleem not basking in the morning?
