CONJUNCTION
Conjunction is a word
or group of word used to combine two sentences, two clauses, two phrases or two
words.
Examples
1. The boy play football and
the girls play football.
2. Ajmal can play cricket
but Wali can’t play cricket.
Here “And”, “But” are
conjunction. They have combined two sentences.
3. They will get first
division if they study hard.
4. He took Lunch when he got home.
Here “If”, “When” are
conjunction, they have combined two clauses.
5. At home and at School.
6. On the road and in the
ground.
Here “And” has combined two
phrases and so it a conjunction.
7. Book and Notebook.
Here “And” is conjunction
that has combined two words.
SENTENCE
A sentence is the group of
words which expressed a complete through is called Sentence.
CLAUSE
A clause is the group of related
to words that contain subject and verb is called Clause.
Examples
1. He comes, 2, She studies.
Here both contain subjects
and verbs.
PHRASE
A group of related words does not
contain subject and verb is know Phrase.
WORD
The group of alphabet that gives a
particular meaning is called word.
ALPHABET
The collection of letter in
symbol in fix order is called Alphabet.
TYPES OF CONJUNCTION
There are Four types
- Co-ordinating Conjunction
- Subordinating Conjunction
- Paired Conjunction
- Conjunctive/Transitions.
1. Co-ordinating Conjunction
Co-ordinating conjunction are those conjunction which are used to
combine two independent clauses, is called Co-ordinating conjunction.
Examples
FAN BOYS (For, And, Nor, But,
Or, Yet, Such).
1. Wali studied very hard,
but he did ‘not passed final Exam.
Here Independent clause,
Co-ordinating conjunction, Independent clause.
2. Subordinating Conjunction
Subordinating conjunction are those conjunction which are used to
contain one dependent clause and one Independent clause
Examples
Before, After, When, While, If,
Because, Although, Even.
1. He completed his computer
clause, before he got Job.
Here Independent clause,
Subordinating conjunction, Dependent clause.
3. Paired Conjunction
Paired
conjunction are those conjunction which are compose of one co-ordinating
conjunction and one subordinating conjunction.
Examples
Both……..And (+, +) two
positive statement.
Neither…..Nor (-,-) two
negative statement.
Either…….Or (+, +) two
positive statement.
Not only…But also (+, + or
-,-) two positive statement or two negative statement.
4. Conjunctive/Transition
Conjunctive are those word which
connect idea in a sentence.
Examples
Moreover, However,
Therefore...
Interjection
Interjection are those
word which denoted sadness, happiness, surprise emotion and pain is called
Interjection.
Examples.
Oh, Hey, Wow, Ouch, Mmm, Hurrah. Alas.
1. Alas! I have lost the Match. (Sadness)
2. Hurrah! I have won the Match. (Happiness)
